Press quotes

"With a crystalline voice that switches between low confessional tones to fragile, gossamer-light highs, Gibson's acerbic wit constantly questions her (and the listener's) desires, feelings and self-image."
Time Out

“A voice that at times is so gossamer light it threatens to evaporate into the ether… Simultaneously disconcerting and moving.”
Peter Quinn, Jazzwise

Paula Rae Gibson is currently recording a dance album with dj Dan Lywood. They will do a set in the dark, leaving the audience the chance to dance like they've never danced... listen like they've never listened.. her dark lyrics, have more light and hope in them ever, set to dan's electronic dance beats..the perfect way to start the week, by shaking away all the demons sunday night.

Paula Rae Gibson is a singer, a songwriter, a photographer and a filmmaker but with Paula the devil is in the detail. Her husband, film director Brian Gibson died in 2004, after which Paula threw herself into her art partly in order to distract herself from her pain and create artefacts that offered some sense of pleasure and release.

Her debut CD, written as a direct response to her husband's death, No More Tiptoes, was released in 2007. The track We Blow It Everytime was selected as one of Time Out magazine's top ten of the year. PRG followed up with 2008's Maybe Too Nude which she recorded with Goldfrapp's Will Gregory. Paula's third CD Rather Make Believe Than Make Do is due early in 2010.

In her two books of photographs, Diary of a Love Addict (2006) and (Fear I Know Not) I'll Always Walk Away (2007) she is most often the subject; mixing sensuality, loss, passion and pain with autobiographical texts against artistically stressed /treated images in ways that are thoughtful, philosophical and erotic. Paula has exhibited in LA and Brussels as well as in various London galleries.

Her last book won a German Photo Book Award and there is an exhibition of her work in the Photography Institute in February.

A one woman show of her photographic and art work took place at the Rollo Gallery, Cleveland Street in April.

Paula scripted, composed the music for, and acted in, What Are You Doing Forever? which was screened as part of the Portobello Film Festival, and her video The Poet Without Tragedy won the prize for the Best Music Video at the 2009 Independent Film Festival.

In June 2009 Paula appeared live with a new band line up at the Festival Jazz au Chellah in Morroco and she went into the recording studios and put the finishing touches to the new album You Gather my Darkness Like Snow Watch it Melt released on Babel in 2009. It comes in a deluxe package that includes her new novella with collage art, photographs and music (recorded with pianist/saxophonist Ivo Neame and drummer/vibraphonist Jim Hart).
'In the Dark' was the title of a series of 3 candlelit concerts by Paula in duo at the Vortex Jazz Club on September and October and in the London Jazz Festival 2009.
